There is something about the lost and forgotten that triggers a feeling. It can make you feel as if you remember things you never experienced or make you feel connected to someone you’ve never met. These places, a lot of which are still standing today, bring a sense of mystery, wonder, and at times peace. Come with me on my adventures and experience poetic musiings from my life experience as we explore the forgotten places speckled across the American landscape. finding hope among the wreckage along the way.
What to expect:
A poetic journey through abandoned America. Each photo is accompanied by a poem which matches some part of what the photo means to me. In addition to the poetry there are also excerpts of what was happening behind the camera that gives further context to the photo.
Why read this?
Exploring and writing poetry became my therapy, It soothed the woes of life and taught me that even things that are thrown away and discarded have value. It taught me to look at the mundane in a new way and it taught me how to look at life with profound wonder. I want to share this feeling and instead of ignoring or downplaying the struggles we all go through, to use them to fuel our motivation, ambition and perspective.
